Twiga Talk

After our Swahili lessons today our group visited the Giraffe Conservation Center. There we were able to feed the giraffes treats, often holding the pellets in our mouths, allowing the giraffes to use their long tongues to maneuver the treat out of our mouths.

Tomorrow we will be heading to Tanzania, where we will be spending the week with the Hadza people. The Hadza are hunter-gatherers that live in a community of less than 1,000 people. It is currently 4:30am and we are leaving at 6:00am. I spent the night celebrating Valentine's Day out with St. Lawrence friends and new Kenyan friends, but now it's about time for a quick cat nap before boarding the bus. I will update you on my travels after returning from Tanzania on February 21.
