We arrived in Birgunj on the 4th and stayed there until the 6th. While there we were able to visit Brijlal's NGO Sano Paila which works towards improving the community of Birgunj in many different ways. (By clicking on the words above you can go to the Sano Paila website to learn more about their work) There we met women working with Freedom Matters and got to learn about their mission. After spending time in the office we walked to the Indian border before doing some interviews and meeting some of the Literacy For Nepal scholarship recipients. The next day Lizzie and I drove around with Brijlal and two other Sano Paila employees (his sidekicks in my opinion) and visited two different schools to pay the tuition bills that Literacy For Nepal is sponsoring. We stopped and had chai at their local tea spot.
