This morning we slept in before heading into town to rent a motorbike for the day. We drove about 10km north to Pak Weep where we met Mitch. We spent the morning exploring his area with him. We got to see his house, located in a lovely remote area and surrounded by rubber trees. We also visited the Rainbow waterfall and took a nice drive through the countryside on backroads. For lunch we ate at a restaurant on the beach that Mitch dines at often. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing before Mitch showed us a few more places. He brought us to the headquarters of the Pak Week Sewing Project, where many sewing machines are set up in the hopes of establishing a business where locals are employed to sew t-shirts. After that we visited another school that Mitch works at and even got to feed an elephant! There were trees recently cut down on the school grounds and an elephant was used to help move the large trees. We fed the 30 year old female elephant watermelons. It was great to see Mitch and talk some Bolton gossip as well as get shown around the area by a local. I'm sad that it is our last full day here in Khao Lak, but we will take advantage of a few more hours on the beach tomorrow morning before returning to Chiang Mai.
