Mekong Delta

This morning we woke early to meet our bus for a day trip to the Mekong Delta. We rode the bus for about 2 hours and got to see some of Vietnam's countryside. As we got closer to the delta, the rice fields became increasingly more green. We stopped in My Tho to visit the Vinh Trang pagoda where we saw three huge Buddha statues that appeared to be made of white ceramic. (I'm not sure what they were actually made of) Then we hopped on a power boat and were shown around the delta, and got to see fishermen at work who also lived on their boats. We got to take a short ride in a rowboat at one point at well. At one stop we got to see how the locals make coconut taffy from fresh coconuts and tried some of the local fruit. It was another great day here in Vietnam and it was nice to explore somewhere outside of the chaotic Ho Chi Minh City. We will be leaving Vietnam tomorrow morning and bussing to Siem Reap, Cambodia, where we will be visiting Angkor Wat for a few days.
