Chitwan Part 1

Chitwan National Park is pretty different than the national parks in the US. While walking around the trails in the park yesterday we could see trash along the walkways and one of the information buildings on the conservation efforts there looked as if it hadn't been updated in 20 years. Despite this, the park is pretty amazing. We checked into our hotel and then walked around the park and I got to see my first elephant up close. I just stood there in awe at the beautiful animal towering over me. Some of the ones we saw were being used to carry food back for the other elephants. Tomorrow we will be riding elephants and I've been looking forward to that for a long long time. We went down to the river where the is normally a beautiful subset but it was pretty hazy out so we couldn't see much but we enjoyed relaxing by the river and watching birds pass and people canoe. After dinner we had a camp fire and then did some good star gazing. Felt like a good Adirondack night around the fire with some good friends.
